Hiya Ben, I just joined and must say how glad I did. I am approaching 50 years and only started learning violin a few years back and taking the Grade 2 exam this year. People in my country would say I am too old for my age to take Grade 2 which is what I initially tought, leaving me kinda of demoralised but after reading about folks in USA much older than me learning musical instruments, guess I am not alone in the world. Your tutorials really helps. I hope to pass the exam and move on to higher

I would just like to say how great my favorite composer is. His name is Advait Sarkar and he is a awesome musician. He like inspired me to write my frist songs the incorporated the Indian culture with western styles of music. Because of this, I am known by saregama records in India and hoping that I will continue to be an interest to them. I also hope I get better, but Advait has been a great support and huge inspiration to me. You all should check out his music some time. It's GREAT!

Hey Ben, I just finished playing in my school's production of west side story. I was wondering what you think of this type of music, my teacher seemed to think I should only work on concertos and stuff, but I loved it!

I am a pianist starting to play violin. I have been playing violin for almost 7 months and I have progressed VERY far according to some people. I picked it up in no time but amm I was wondering if it is normal for me to have a tensed up wrist while trying to play vibrato. What are some ways to prevent tensing up or how would I learn not to do that?

Hi.. Im interested in learning violin. I have a few questions to ask if it wont be a bother:
1. What violin should I buy (in terms of price practicality & performance)?
2. What basic music play(?) should I start learning first?
Thank you very much.

I need help with my vibrato. My orchestra directer says that my vibrato comes from my shoulders instead of my wrist hence forth my body shaking;which also causes pain in my back because of all that pressure on my shoulders.I have been trying to fix the problem but nothing seems to be working. Can anyone help?

You sure that's from FF4?
It sounds eerily like parts of 'Here to Stay' from Bleach.
Either way, you play it very nicely.

In Viva La Vida's second violin part, why are there ties on some of the notes that I hear are separate in the video? For example, at the end of measure one.
